Concordia Church Mission & Vision

“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

Matthew 22:36-40 (NRSV)

Jesus taught us two commandments to live by: Love God. Love your neighbor. We are called to love and serve God and one another; a calling where our faith connects us to living as Christ’s presence in the world. We are a multi-site congregation made for praiseful worship, Christian education, Gospel proclamation and service in Christ’s name in both North Center and Avondale.

Three main ways we seek to live out our faith at Concordia Church:

  • Proclaim our faith
We glorify God through praise and worship and sharing the Good News with others.

  • Grow in our faith
We deepen our personal relationship with God and our relationships with each other.

  • Live out our faith
When God lives in us, we express our gratitude through generosity and service.

Concordia Church Values

Our core values form our identity:  who we are, what we seek, how we regard ourselves and others.  In God’s kingdom, Christ promises a rule of love for all people.  We are called to live the values Christ lived and taught to all who bear his name.

  • Gratitude
You have been blessed and you know it. Gratitude is the experience of joy in your life when your heart overflows in thanksgiving for all the blessings that fill your life, gifts from God.

  • Generosity
Generous people live beyond themselves. Generosity is your response to God’s abundant blessings, freely giving so others may experience God’s goodness in their lives.

  • Abundant Living
You are created to live a life that is purposeful, meaningful and fulfilling. Abundant living is experiencing gratitude and generosity through your love of God and your love of neighbor, witnessing to God’s vision for all people.
