DESCRIPTION:We invite you to our special Ash Wednesday service that will be at Concordia Church on Whipple. Starting at 5:30 P.M. we will have a children’s craft designed to engage your child with the season of Lent and help them grow in their faith.  In addition\, Children’s Church will be provided during the service for children ages 0-10. The service\, which starts at 6:15 pm\, includes special music and the imposition of ashes.  This service creates an opportunity for our two sites to join with the larger Concordia community and reflect on our collective journey of faith as we enter the season of Lent.  In particular\, Ash Wednesday begins the 40-day journey of Lent.  We are invited to take up the disciplines of prayer\, fasting\, almsgiving and Bible study\, just as our Lord fasted and prayed for 40 days in the desert.  This renewal of faith leads to Holy Week and the celebration of Easter on April 1st.

DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars for the upcoming youth (6th-12th grade) retreat to Lutherdale\, Feb. 2-4:  \nOur annual retreat to Lutherdale is less than one month away!   PLEASE email Pastor Adam by this Thursday (January 11th\, 2018) to let us know if you’ll attend this retreat.  We’ll depart from Concordia on Seeley at 5:00 pm on Friday\, Feb. 2 and return around noon on Sunday\, Feb. 4.  We’ll join several hundred other Lutheran youth from the Chicago area in learning about the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion while enjoying all the fun activities that Lutherdale has to offer.  The cost is $115 per person (financial aid is available – please speak with Pastor Adam).  All Confirmation students are expected to attend this retreat\, and any other youth (and friends) in 6th-12th grades are welcome\, too.  See the attached flyer for additional info. \n  \nLutherdaleRetreat2018

SUMMARY:"Do-It-Yourself" Instant Christmas Performance 
DESCRIPTION:This is a wonderful way for children to share in the experience of celebrating our Lord’s birth and engages them by acting out the parts of angels\, shepherds\, and wise men.  Children will be given simple costumes\, short lines\, and movements to memorize.  For parents of little ones (ages 0-3) we invite you to dress up as an angel with your child and sit in our reserved ‘angel choir’ section.  No special skills required! \nWe invite you to attend the practice sessions\, happening at Concordia Church on Seeley\, during Sunday School on December 3rd or 10th.  A final practice will be held in the Concordia Church on Seeley Sanctuary at 9:00 am on Sunday\, December 17th.
