We rejoice with Pastor Adam Varner and his family on the new call he has received to a chaplaincy position at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School back home in Austin, Texas. And what a homecoming—he will be not only home in Austin where his parents and family live, but back at the very school he attended growing up. May God’s blessings be with him and his family in their new ministry. Pastor Adam’s ministry at Concordia has impacted many people: our congregation at Seeley, the formation of a new faith community at Whipple, and the families and staff at Concordia Place. Pastor Adam Varner has been a leader in our mission and ministries across Concordia:

  • The faith community at Whipple of 29 Core Team members and 22 children who have become a part of the Concordia faith community;
  • the community events hosted by Concordia Place and Concordia Church that have reached so many people at Concordia Place and in the Avondale community—Summer Jam, Mardi Gras, Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving celebration last November;
  • our children’s and youth ministry  at Concordia Church;
  • the connections in the community we’ve made through Coffee and Open Play Saturdays, Family Faith Nights, and Avondale Neighborhood Clean Up.

Pastor Adam Varner will continue in his role through the end of June. Plans are underway to celebrate his ministry. If you’re interested in being a part of the planning, please let me know at nzook@concordiaplace.org.
